I was working on a waist cincher for a friend of mine and I somehow managed to sew right through my finger! How is that for talent right there? I have to say that I am beyond impressed with myself. I knew I was danger prone, but this is a level past anything I have actually inflicted on myself, unintentional or otherwise. The needle went all the way through only once and it isn't in the middle of the finger which would be worse, but that puncture is rather large and about 1/4 inch into my pointer finger. It's not center, but it's close. And there's a fairly large piece of skin hanging off my finger which I'll have to cut off after it stops hurting so much.
The funniest part is that I didn't even really feel it. I didn't notice until I started dripping blood everywhere. All I felt was a hard pinch. I thought that I had just gotten caught on a pin or something like usual. But, no. It didn't really start hurting until about 2 minutes later when the pain caught up with me. I think that this moment needs to go into my personal injury hall of fame right next to my recent knee injury cause that was impressive, too. I'm really setting a record this year. Sewing through my own finger was one thing that I never thought that I would manage to do.
And then Cortnee was sitting there and asked why I was shaking my head at my hand and all I had to do was point at the blood and she started freaking out. And then I couldn't find a band-aid and couldn't really look because I needed my one functioning hand to keep my finger from bleeding all over the place. This has been one long night so far.
Here's hoping I don't ever do that again, cause it kinda sucked.
